Located on the main road in the small town of Page, Arizona, this viewpoint is definitely worth a stop. When we arrived in our hotel room, there was a beautiful black and white landscape of a horseshoe-shaped river. Since we did not know the city we were in very well, my mother did some research and found that this view was the Horseshoe Bend, located only 3-4 minutes from our hotel, that means we could visit it the next morning. Said and done! A few hours later, we were there. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”45px”]

We climbed it without difficulty and then I started running like a wild horse on the flat path. It was completely crazy to see the horizon, desert vegetation, this orange-red sand and dozens of tourists smiling as I passed. Then we came to the viewpoint. On top of a rocky heap, we could finally see this tortuous river. The colours of the surrounding rock, the sun reflecting in the water and the river’s atypical curves transport us elsewhere. At<\/span> the heart<\/span> of this viewpoint stands a small terrace surrounded by a fence. On the other hand, everywhere around there is nothing to stop tourists from a deadly fall. I was very curious to discover more, much to my mother’s dismay, as she rather feared for my life. I saw tourists being photographed on the edge of the precipice and I dreamed of this <\/span>selfie<\/span><\/i> that would make me popular on Instagram. But, again, I had to be held by my mother’s worried arms.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1461321532240{padding-bottom: 65px !important;}”][vc_column]

She replied that no, there is a fence. FALSE! It is only fenced for about 7-8 meters. Everything else in the crater is open, and it’s easy to fall into the hole, especially for a 2-3 year old kid who runs without fear. It was a very frightening moment as I had to hold my son in my arms not to have his death on my conscience. Despite everything, it is a beautiful little <\/span>hike<\/span><\/i> not too difficult. The baby traveller walked by himself all the way to get there. However, I had to carry him a good part of the way back. No stroller is allowed.
